AI Summary Widget: a Faster Way for Users to Understand Dashboards

Most dashboards give people information, not clarity.

Your user opens the dashboard in your app, scans a dozen charts, feels overwhelmed, and closes it.

They don’t message your team, they don’t ask for help, they don’t explore.

They just stop coming back… because nothing makes immediate sense.

What if we told you there’s a solution that prevents that kind of silent abandonment by giving users a clear explanation the moment they land on the page?

Luzmo’s AI Summary widget is that solution. It reads the full dashboard, detects patterns, and explains the story in natural language to your users; right inside your product.

Why this feature exists

Many teams rely on dashboards, yet the moment someone new tries to interpret the data, they feel lost. Dashboards overwhelm users with fragmented information — ten charts might show ten facts, but the bigger picture stays hidden. The AI Summary widget reads all those charts and synthesizes them into one coherent explanation, so users understand the overall situation in seconds instead of piecing it together themselves.

It shortens the path from numbers to understanding. Instead of forcing users to figure everything out chart-by-chart, it gives them a clear explanation the moment they land on the dashboard. Dashboards feel more approachable for non-technical audiences and more efficient for power users who need quick context.

What the AI Summary widget does TODAY

The widget turns complex dashboards into simple, readable insight. It examines all charts on the page, picks up on trends, and describes the overall narrative behind the data. Then, when users apply filters, switch tabs, or explore segments, the summary updates itself automatically: so the explanation always reflects the view in front of them.

Visual integration happens quietly in the background. The widget matches the theme, colors, and layout already used in your dashboards, and it adopts the existing language configuration. You don’t need additional styling, translation workflows, or UI adjustments.

You can also guide the tone. A custom prompt lets your team decide how the summary should sound: concise, analytical, friendly, or more elaborate – whatever you like. The widget respects these instructions and adjusts the writing style accordingly.

Performance holds up well on large dashboards thanks to built-in caching. Users get immediate responses even when switching fast between views.

How this improves the experience

The effect shows up quickly: your users understand dashboards without hand-holding.

They don’t need long explanations or step-by-step walkthroughs. The summary gives them immediate context. Daily users save time because they no longer jump between charts to understand what changed. They get the context first, then use the visualizations to explore details.

Onboarding also becomes easier. Instead of explaining every chart, they can rely on the summary to introduce the dashboard in a clearer, more consistent way. And for leadership roles, the widget offers a high-level view that cuts through noise and surfaces the most important patterns quickly.

Who benefits the most

The AI Summary widget helps several teams, but three groups feel the impact immediately:

  • Non-technical business users. Think of the marketing manager checking campaign performance, the store manager reviewing last week’s sales, or the HR lead monitoring recruitment pipelines. These users want insights, not analytics training. They open dashboards occasionally, don’t remember what every chart represents, and only need one thing: a clear sense of “Is this good or bad? What changed?” The summary gives them that answer without involving an analyst.
  • Infrequent or casual dashboard users. Executives dropping in weekly, stakeholders reviewing monthly, new employees learning the metrics: anyone who doesn’t live in dashboards every day. These users lose context between sessions and forget how charts connect. The summary rebuilds that context instantly, so they’re not starting from zero each time they return.
  • Mobile users. On a phone, piecing together a story across multiple charts is frustrating. The summary surfaces the narrative upfront, giving mobile users the complete picture without endless scrolling or zooming.

Product teams, CS teams, and operational leaders still feel the impact. When dashboards are easier for end users to understand, adoption improves, support questions drop, and returning to the data becomes more intuitive.

What’s next for the AI Summary widget

Future improvements are already planned. Pivot tables will soon receive dedicated summarization, so users get explanations for breakouts, aggregates, and distribution changes.

More control over which charts feed into the summary is also coming. Today the widget processes the full dashboard; upcoming updates will allow teams to define the exact set of visualizations that matter for each summary.

And for developers building custom data products, Flex support IS on the roadmap! Once available, the AI Summary widget will work as a Flex component that can be placed anywhere inside a custom interface.
