Attuned Education Partners helps school systems across the United States improve student outcomes, combining consulting services with software products that support classroom instruction, staff experience, and strategic planning. Attuned has been expanding beyond consulting into software, and today operates several products alongside its consulting work: CARE, an instructional coaching and classroom walkthrough platform, and the Spark survey suite, a bundle of tools spanning staff satisfaction, family and student, and pulse surveys, plus a 360 leadership evaluation tool.

The challenge: landing a marquee client with no time to spare

When a large and prominent school system approached Attuned needing sophisticated dashboards, the stakes were immediately clear. This was the kind of partner whose impact on students is significant.

The requirements were well beyond what Attuned's existing tooling could support. Two senior engineers, working across time zones, were put on the problem with a single directive: find something that works, and find it fast.

Eight tools were assessed in total. Three were installed and tested hands-on: Luzmo, Qrvey, and Metabase. Luzmo came out on top.

Why Luzmo won a head-to-head against eight competitors

Visualization quality alone didn't decide it. Sam acknowledged that at the higher end of the market, most tools clear the bar on visuals. As he put it: "The technology is not quite a commodity, there are technological differentiators in these tools. But the visual features were well above the bar from everybody."

The real differentiators came down to two things: how Luzmo priced its product, and how its team showed up during implementation.

Pricing that fits the usage pattern

Attuned's end-user base runs into the thousands, but only a portion of those users interact with dashboards in any given month. A seat-based licensing model would mean paying for the full user base regardless of activity. Luzmo's monthly-active-user model meant Attuned only pays for the users actually engaging with the product.

That works well for us, and it also means that as we add Luzmo to more and more places in our software, we'll pay Luzmo more money. But that's okay. We're getting more value from it at that point."

Support that went beyond the sales call

Speed required trust. From the moment implementation began, the Luzmo team set up a shared Slack channel giving Attuned's engineers a direct line for questions and issues. On a tight timeline with a small team, that kind of access matters.

Sam's verdict on the sales experience was equally clear: "Replicate him" was a reference to the sales rep who led the process — attentive, outcome-focused, and consistently responsive from first conversation through go-live.

The results: bigger than expected, delivered anyway

The project turned out larger than anyone had scoped going in. Despite on-the-fly additions, everything was eventually shipped and working. For a three-engineer team taking on an enterprise-grade analytics build under pressure, that outcome represented a genuine win.

What's next for Attuned and Luzmo

Attuned is already building out its next Luzmo use case. The broader goal is to consolidate all visualization across the product suite under a single platform. Sam is also working on upstream data infrastructure improvements, standardizing how data is formatted so that performance gains apply across all tools, not just Luzmo.
